I put this post together to explain some concepts related to Internet Marketing, specifically Affiliate Marketing and Niche Marketing.

What is an Affiliate?
How many times have you referred someone to a movie you saw, or a restaurant you ate at and liked a lot? Can you imagine if you were paid a percentage of their bill in return, how cool would that be?
An affiliate is someone who gets paid to refer other people to a product or service, and gets paid a commission on each sale made from anyone they referred.
Most large retailers offer affiliate programs of some kind, in addition to the affiliate programs of the horde of Internet based marketplaces and information product businesses.

What is a Niche?
You are probably familiar with the concept of a market? Things like Health & Fitness, Computers, Finance, etc. These are entire markets on their own, very broad topics related in some way.
You can divide these markets up into smaller subjects – health and fitness includes weight loss, body building, health supplements, gym equipment, and so on. Personally, I still consider each of these big enough to be considered a market in their own right.
Drilling down even further, weight loss might become a weight loss supplement, a diet plan, an exercise routine. At this level you start getting into what are called ‘niches’.
A niche is really just a more well-defined sub-section of the market, a slice of the pie, instead of the whole thing.

Affiliate Niche Marketing
Affiliate Niche Marketing online is these two combined. It is finding a very small specific portion of a larger market, and honing it on it. By serving just a small sub-section of a market you make it a lot easier to target the right kind of people, the kind of people who need what you are selling, and who are looking to buy.
Making a website that promotes a specific topic, product, or service can make getting the right kind of visitors to your website much easier.
